Heat Haze In Portugal!
The third round of the 2009 SEAT Leon Supercopa took place at the new Portimao circuit on the Algarve, Portugal, and it was HOT!
Under cloudless blue skies the Supercopa joined an impressive line up of International class racing including the Le Mans Series and the World Series By Renault.
Fresh from his great performance at the Eurocup at Brands Hatch just a few weeks earlier, Freddy was pleased with the car and was easily running in the top ten throughout practice and qualifying. A swathe of penalties was handed out post qualifying seeing Freddy start the first race from 13th on the grid.
Hit by an over eager competitor, Freddy battled through the first two races with significant damage, doing well to finish in 13th and 19th. Thanks to through the night working by the Advent Motorsport crew, Freddy was able to get on track for the 3rd race on Sunday but once again he was hit from behind, this time the damage putting and end to his race there and then. A great disappointment for Freddy, given he has shown great pace but onwards and upwards as they say!
Freddy's next Supercopa meeting is at Albacete on 11-13 September.
