NORDSTROM IGNORES ILLNESS TO BAG POINTS IN THE WET
Racing Driver Freddy Nordstrom Ignores Food Poisoning For A Top Eight Finish In Treacherous Conditions
The weekend started in great form for the Surrey teenager with a day's testing on Friday which saw him fifth fastest, setting high hopes for qualifying the next day. Sadly, Freddy was to be struck down with food poisoning and in no condition to enjoy the sun shining on the Yorkshire circuit for Saturday's qualifying. Freddy put in a valiant effort and whilst only being well enough to put in three laps still managed to qualify eighth! A very pale Freddy commentated "That wasn't fun!"
The first to take on the treacherous conditions after the delay were the SEAT Cupras. Despite being below par himself, Freddy put on a superb display of concentration in the difficult conditions which largely saw the field remain in grid order. Coming home in eighth place meaning more valuable points for Freddy. "At times the spray was so heavy you couldn't see a thing in front of you. I knew there was a car there but it was just a wall of grey water to look at!" said Freddy afterwards. "Even at the end I couldn't see the chequered flag for the spray!" With the timetable running late the second SEAT Cupra race of the weekend was cancelled and will be run at a later meeting in the season. There is a five week interval until the next race which will take place on 11-13 July at Snetterton, Norfolk. For media inquiries please contact rebecca@rh-pr.co.uk
