MIXED FORTUNES FOR NORDSTROM
Freddy Nordstrom Has Mixed Luck at Latest Round of the SEAT Cupra Championship
Freddy Nordstrom (Weybridge) had a weekend of mixed fortunes at the 7th and 8th rounds of the SEAT Cupra Championship held at Croft in Yorkshire.
Arriving at Croft as R Class Championship leader the initial signs were good with Freddy a frontrunner in Friday's testing session and taking just one lap per qualifying session to comfortably take 2nd on the R Class grid for both of the weekend's double header events.
Race One, held in bright sunshine, saw Freddy drop momentarily to 3rd but he was soon back into 2nd place with his eyes on the leader. In his hunt for the lead spot Freddy put in a stunning fastest lap, earning himself a Championship point but sadly bad luck was to play its part as Freddy had to retire when a fuel pump fuse went, a rare mechanical failure.
"Race One was very disappointing" said Freddy afterwards, "the only consolation was getting a point for fastest lap. Race Two was a lot better though Ian Churchill was able to pull out a big lead whilst I battled for 2nd. In terms of the Championship it sees me in 4th in the R Class but it is still far too close to call between the top five and everything is still to play for!"
Freddy's next race, which marks the halfway point of the season, takes place on 23-24 June at the Cheshire circuit of Oulton Park
