MECHANICAL WOES THWART NORDSTROM AT DONINGTON

Freddy Nordstrom's Latest Race Blighted By Mechanical Failure.

Freddy Nordstrom (Weybridge) suffered a tough weekend at the 5th and 6th rounds of the SEAT Cupra Championship held at Donington Park on Sunday. The Surrey teenager was blighted by a glitch in his new SEAT Leon which saw him qualify in a lowly 13th for both of the weekend's races.

As the team worked hard to find the mysterious gremlin there looked to be some glimmer of hope when at the start of race one Freddy drove beyond the limits of the car to make places up and get to within sight of a superb battle for 5th, 6th and 7th when a sudden and dramatic loss of power saw him retire to the pit lane. The battle was on to find and solve the problem before the second race of the weekend. Despite a number of changes the mysterious loss of power struck as Freddy left the grid for race two and after three laps it was time for the second heartbreaking retirement of the weekend.

The team will now consult with SEAT with regards to a possible gearbox problem whilst all other scenarios are taken into consideration, all within the limits of little time before the next race at Thruxton in two weeks time.

Remaining upbeat Freddy said afterwards "Yes, this pretty much is a worse case scenario for a racing driver and I can't help but feel disappointed as I always want the best result not just for myself but for my team who work so hard and those who have supported us this weekend, www.plumbertraining.com and Any Question Answered 63336. Sadly race cars can be a bit temperamental! In the first race before the loss of power I was able to really storm up the pack and test my driving skills to the limit. Today was a day the learning curve was as steep as it gets but we will be back in fighting form!"

Whilst on track was difficult for Freddy, there were many positives from the weekend. Before the weekend, and showing their superb commitment to driver development in the series, SEAT UK organised a media training day for the drivers which Freddy very much enjoyed and found informative.

Over the race weekend spectators and fellow teams were enjoying the 100 free 'Any Question Answered' books given away from Freddy's awning. The text service, which provides answers to literally any question, has proved a big hit since its launch in 2004 and their book of some of their interesting, difficult and plain bizarre answers provided proved a great in between race read and kick started some entertaining conversations in the paddock! Freddy was even spotted reading the book looking very much like The Stig!
